2007 Steering Wheel Lock Question

I am about to purchase a 2007 SLE. I slide into the car from my wheelchair and use the steering wheel as a "hand-hold" for stability. Most newer cars have a steering wheel that locks firmly in place. I mean, no play/slop at all. The Solara I am considering doesn't lock at all. Is it broken or am I missing something?

Would appreciate any answers or suggestions!

Thanks!

Mark

PS I've noticed a key slot beside the drivers seat. What's that for?

It locks when moved in either direction after key is out.

And that key hole is for locking the trunk latch. That's so you can have the car unlocked with the trunk locked. Or you can give the valet the grey key and he can't get into the trunk and mooch your stuff.

Actually, my '05 Lara steering wheel never locked, it gave a little slop too. In fact, the wifey's Rav4 and my FJ's steering wheel don't lock either. The steering wheels have a little give Wheelz mentioned but they never fully turn when the key is out of the ignition and I never heard that audible "click".
