hey guys i was wondering where i can buy the frame part for a 2nd gen solara headunit. i wanna change my head unit but if i do it looks ugly. I seen some solaras with custom stereos with the gray frames so it matches the plastic. let me know where i can buy this. Thanks

I installed a pioneer headunit and amp and subs on my corolla by myself but it took me a few hours to get all the wiring right. I want the things on my solara to be more 'quality' so i took it to a shop to get it installed. they mounted the rocksford fosgate amp under the passenger seat and the subs are bolted in but I had to purchase additional parts to make it work with the stock jbl amp and steering wheel controls. in the end, installation + parts cost more than the headunit itself. more props to you if you can do it yourself.

it depends on the unit
but i have an eclipse and my steering controls still work
it kind of was a bitch to do myself, mostly because of the drilling i needed to do with the brackets
had to measure and drill, but everything else wasn't too bad compared to that
i did this alone, and im sure i saved plenty of money
im not very technical either so it came out pretty well i think

and yes i got the molding thing from the dealership
it does cost a bit more than aftermarket ones, but the color matching i think is worth it
cant tell the difference in color
