Thanks for the tips but I have taken off the whole front end before so that was easy. I do recommend one thing though: When putting the lens back on just reheat the housing and use the existing glue that is there and fill spots that you think are going to let water in.

Oh okay thanks for the tip on image posting. And thanks for saying it looks good. It's really not that hard. I used a flat black high temp paint it was like 1400°f-2000°f I had extra from the lights so I redid the grill.

Ah, it's nice to see after all these years my DIY is still being used.

After a few years, I can report that I still don't have any issues with my headlamps. As long as you seal them back up good, you shouldn't either.

I'm hoping to do HID's in the future, which I don't think should be an issue as long as the High Temp paint is used.

Hey FLASH, Thanks for the tutorial, it helped me out a lot. I've used HID's for about 2 weeks after I blacked the headlights out and it didn't have any problem with the heat, I used Plasti Dip to black it out, so if you got high heat paint there shouldn't be a problem. Surprisingly HIDs are not as hot as Halogen bulbs, that's what i am using now and still no problem. So everything is all good.

I've got a set of HIDs up for sale i've only used it for 3 weeks and then i switched to Halogens because i got the multi color Philips now and it looks better.

If you are looking for HIDs i have a pair of H4 Bi-Xenon 10,000k 24v 35watt HID Blue. PM me if you want them

Super late reply, but I actually got 5000k HID's from VVME and love them. Also, as you reported, no issues whatsoever with the HIDs and painted housings.

VVME is an awesome place for HIDs, they are so cheap but the quality is SO good. This is the only place i get my HIDs
