just bought a 07 solara and loving it. i love the sound of a nice deep exhaust and this stock one isn't doing it for me (although i appreciate how quiet it is). i've been talking around and it seems i have 3 options. 1) no exhaust. 2) straight pipe. 3) some TRD aftermarket. i am also wanting (if i decide to go with an exhaust that it) a dual exhaust. thanks.

Hi,

I just recently had a new muffler put on my 2005 V6 3.3. Went with 2.5 inch pipe from the Cat back to the new Magnaflow #14829. We totally eliminated the stock resonator as well. Sounds very deep but not overly loud - NO RICE. Very classy sounding. There is no annoying drone while cruising on the highway. Got the muffler from Amazon for $113 and the shop charged $120 for the work - total of approx. $245.

Good luck with what ever you choose.

^ That's a great setup. You can't go wrong with the 14829, plus it comes to about half the cost of the trd muffler.

Option 1 = all bark, no bite, not to mention some V6s don't sound very good like that
option 2 = less bark, still no bite
option 3 = win

Keep it subtle and tasteful. The TRD muffler is expensive and hard to find. IIRC it was made by Borla. Go with what they suggested. Magnaflow is hard to beat

When you deleted the resonator - how big of a difference did you feel from inside while driving?

I didn't feel anything different, but the sound (growl:)) is louder when romping on the gas pedal. When just cruising at around 2-3000 rpm there is no sound

The sound is from the Magnaflow. It truly sounds sweet.

Awesome. This helps out so much. Does anyone know if they make a Cold Air Intake for the Lara? If not how much is a Ram Air and what was the difference ( horse and mpg-wise)?

The ram air that I did costs around $80 and is detailed in the Pep Boys post. Adds absolutely no HP gain - MPG is the same. Just sounds good :).

So would I be better off trying to do a cold air intake?
