2002 convertible subwoofer volume

I have run searches on this board and still not found the answer although I suspect there must be many prior posts on this:
My 2002 solara convertible has the stock jbl subwoofer and head unit. There is no volume control in the menus or on the face of the head unit for the subwoofer. There seems to be a limiter on the subwoofer volume when the head unit is turned up. In addition: At low volumes, the subwoofer is too loud for the mids and highs.

Is there a way to change this behavior (poor balance between sub and the rest of the speakers) without replacing the head unit?

have you tried to use the fader?

or is there a sub level in the bass treble selections?

The fader does not effect the sub level.

As stated in the original post: There is no menu item to control level of sub.

Anyone at all? No knowledge on this one? Seems like an odd design flaw.

Hmm that's interesting, what does the Sub for the 2002 Convertible look like? I want one on my 2000. Most importantly, how does it sound?(bass-wise XD)

There is no room for bassy mids in the rear sail panels, there is only about 1.5" of mounting depth since the top goes down right behind them. Our sail speakers are completely different than the t-top and hard tops, we actually have coax back there. They totally suck. As for putting midbass drivers up front... it would sound like crap compared to a decent component set. We really got screwed. As for what TA Guy said, i would need pics to get a better idea of what this looks like.

I have a 2001 Solara with the JBL and now I have aftermarket, but before when i had the same setup I dont think there is a way to control just the sub. What you can do is just turn down the bass and it will sound better... but other than that im pretty sure you cant do anything. Upgrade to aftermarket! :p lol
