Basic stereo upgrade

I researched but found only aftermarket upgrade info
My car is a 04 SE with base stereo (non JBL), all stock, single cd player, no text button

1. Will a newer higher level stock stereo plug up to my vehicle (SLE's jbl systems)? Is there a separate amp or something needed.
2. Is there any antenea upgrades? Mine is rather weak.
3. With up grade how do we get ipod connection, blue tooth?
4. Are the stock speakers really weak, are replacements expensive?
I dont want to loose the steering wheel controls.

Thanks so much.
Mike

Oh well,
Probably not a simple answer.
I saw a few similar questions, but the answer did not make sense.
Does a non-jbl get replaced with a jbl and amp? And the stock cables work?
I am guessing I would need new cables.
And probably an aftermarket stereo is worth the effort over pgraded stock.
