My dad has a 2002 Solara SE V6. all of a sudden when he turns on the rear defrost, he gets a static noise on the radio. has anyone encountered this before?

I believe our antenna is on the rear window. It's reasonable to assume that there could be a break in one of the defrost wires, which could cause a problem with the antenna. Back before the days of Bluetooth radio, I remember noticing that running the rear defrost caused some induced noise in the stereo, so it may just be a drawback in the design which is amplified by the aging of the car.
