2005 Solara SE SPORT 5 speed & 97 FireBird 6 speed

These are my two babies! 1st is a 2005 Solara SE Sport. 5 speed man. lightly modded. Check out http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2984057 to read more about it. Not too many bragging rights lol. I ran a 15.3 1/4 track time at 114mph. I beat the crud outta a 08 Camry SE V6...that made me feel good, the guy asked for it though hehe. Top speed with headers has been 136 at 4th gear into 5th...havent topped out yet.

Second is 1997 Pontiac FireBird Formula. 6speed trans with stage2 centerforce dual friction clutch. Moderatly modded. Bragging rights are as follows..when I go to the track I have to wear a helmet since i run under 12sec!! Times are 11.4 on a 75shot of NX at 129mph. 12.9 on just motor at 121mph. Top speed to date is 156mph shifting into 4th gear, then I got scared and didn't dare waiting for 5th or 6th gear lol :{

You sure the 08 Camry was a V6? Because a stock V6 (2GR-FE) does 14.3 @ 99mph on a 1/4 mile and 0-60 in 5.8 seconds.

yea. the camry race was on the highway though...i looked at the post and realized it looks as if thats the car i raced on the track. the track race was against a celica gts and it was my buddy. we ran almost the same times, he won though..power to weight ratio i say lol. but camry...yes 08 v6 se with the little ground fx package. we were at about 65mphi dropped to 3rd and he hit his....he was slightly in front until i shifted 4th then i started pulling and kept pulling. since i put the headers, throttl body spacer and intake/exhaust, my top end speed and power has gone up ALOT. that was the day i hit 136 in 4th gear. when i was about 4 1/2 lenghts in front i slowed down and we both exited. The dude was pretty impressed when he saW i had the 2.4L I4, he said he was gas pedal down the whole time, even tried the shift method but couldnt gather enough to catch up once i pulled out in front ;}

first ive heard of an I4 doing more than 130 on 4th.
The Gen1 V6 has trouble doing that.

That's weird because top speed for an 08 Camry SE V6 is 145mph, he should have really blown by you and kept on pulling. The SE 4bangers come with a ground fx package too. If he really did have a V6, I guess he was a sucky driver

maybe i have a special solara lol. and just because the v6 has a top speed of 145...doesnt mean he'd blow me away...all depends on who can get there faster. i stopped at 136mph so im more then sure he was around 125 130 when we stopped. and just cause its an I4 doesnt mean it cant go above 140 lol...plenty of 4 bangers go faster then that...i got a friend with a b16 civic that hits 150+. as far as the driver...i can understand being a bad driver on a track...but not much you can mess up while on the highway and with an automatic...all you do is step on the gas pedal. but to each his own, i dont know why my lara didnt top out but 136 in 4th gear is a deffinate....and it was definately a v6 camry. now for the track time whats wrong with 15 secs lol>>114mph?? i was upset that day the damn celica beat me by half a car he ran 15 even at 116 and some change.....

a 114 mph trap speed in the 1/4, should be in the 12's...unless you have massive wheel spin and some SERIOUS top end, a 15.3 and 114mph dont match......take a look at trd4life's signature.

...maybe the lack of torque??? my firebird runs 11's at only 120 to 130mph range...but thats at 425hp with 398ftlbs of torque and mid 12's at the low 120mph range with 348hp and 342ftlbs torque. i have time slips for it. my lara does wheel spin pretty bad before it grabs though...i have cheap tires on it lol, and as ive already said, my top end power and speed have increased since the mods and the air fuel ratio tuning. it use to be my 3rd gear set my power, now i get the pull effect from 4th and 4th gear runs a long time before i reach the shift point to stay within a good power curve. im sure if i spent some money on a set of good tires id get some better grip. on the 1/4 mile i dont get out of 4th gear....1st and 2cnd gears redline extremely fast..so fast for 1st gear that if i dont pay attention to the shift light ill knock it...2cnd gear isnt much better. i really wish i could change the gears on the lara like the firebird....im running 373 precision gears on it....upgraded from the stock 270 somethings.

hmm....mine is definatly not limited lol....then again im not the original owner so dont know. my ecu has been hacked too, had to do air fuel ratio tuning, so maybe the shop took off the limiter or something...i will ask that question tomarrow as well as contact the service department at toyota and find out some info on the limiters

You really cant compare a civic to a lara. They take a lot of abuse dont weigh anything compared to us, and they have a lot of top end power.

wasnt comparing the car....just the engine size. and yea they dont weigh anything. my lara is a damn boat compared to a civic....damn honda! ive blown up a civic before though...and a mazda 626 transmission hehehe, my lara hangs in there though i think she's a tough little laady!!! built toyo tough
