I think it might be the car itself that throws off this theme, or rather what we're used to seeing the Avalon as (VIP). It's a boxy car but it's no Evo, it's also a long car but it's no SC.
IMO, The style of the rims look like they belong on a more sporty car or at least a car with much more curves, but that's not to say you can't pull off a good look with them. Since you're going to repaint that lip anyway maybe add a few layers of clear to the surface of whole rim?
There's a lot of potential to your car but not in the direction you might be thinking. I've always thought of the Avalon as a sweet and comfy cruiser, I personally wouldn't want to detract from that.
