TRD Kit install underway

First off thanks krawzyazn for the Kit.
The kit was Red and I need DWP so after calling around and getting estimates from $400-$900 I decided to spend $160 in paint and do it myself. Here's where I am so far.

Clear coat sanded off.



Getting primered





I hope to spray the White and Pearl paint tomorrow.

how much did you pay for the kit????? nice work soo far , but doesnt it look like it need another coat of primer??? how many coats did you put already???

I paid $850.
I had only put on 1 coat of Primer for those Pics. I wanted to be able to see the Red through it. I ended up putting on 3 coats which covered all the Red.

I have never sprayed Automotive paint but I am fairly proficient in Cabinetry/Carpentry and I spray all of that myself. I use a HVLP sprayer which is what automotive painters use.

If your painting it youself, please please read on FLEXI PAINT ADDITIVE. It is VERY essential ingredient to our painting process. Our polyereuthane (sp??) kits are made to flex, the paint is not. By adding this addtive you make the paint flex with the kit (thereby giving you that reliable look). W/o it your kit will web (where you see cracks in the paint that look like spiderwebs...).
Good Luck and give up full details, What you used to sand it off (what grit paper) to what product you used to prime it (how many coats), etc, etc....Details would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok, so I've got the kit painted and I've installed the rear and center valences.
I'm hoping the Kit paint will blend more once it's in the sun for a while. Let me know what you think.

not to hate or whatever but the tow hitch (or whatever it is) looks kind of goofy with the kit. just my opinion...... it loses some of the "sport" look....

You barely notice the hitch, I assume, if you're actually at a normal viewing height (as in, not crouched down taking a photo). The kit looks great - VERY nicely done for a home paint job!

Did you have any fitment issues with it? I've seen a couple (mine included) where the factory bolt patterns on the back made the center piece not align perfectly - mine looks a little off to the left, even though it's all in the factory bolt spots.

Yeah I f*cked up a little on the drivers side valence. I orderd some new 3M tape and I will re-do it once it comes in.
