Jimmm's 1st Year 1/28/2009 - 1/28/2010

Tonight when I parked my Solara in the garage, I recorded
my mileage at 76,796 miles. When I bought it one year ago
tomorrow, it was showing 59,068. In my first year, I have driven
this beautiful machine 17,728 glorious miles. The Carfax report
stated that the original owner drove an average of 13,000 miles
per year, in 5 years, which is below the national average of 15,000
miles per year.
I have driven about 50 miles per weekdays going back and forth
to work and considerably less or not at all on weekends and
vacation trips when we usually used the Lexus ES350.
In my first year I have had only to replace the light bulb behind
the driver's heated seat button in February and the battery in
October when it would not start one morning when I was ready
to leave for work. My mechanic was gracious enough to come
to the house and jump me off so that I could drive down to the
garage to get a new battery. The Lexus was already gone to
work. I have been hearing an intermittent squeal of the brake
wear indicators, so I am going to get new brakes tomorrow as a
birthday present for the Solara. I discovered Solarguy in March
(soon to be another anniversary) and I have shared generously
and benefited greatly from the feedback on this forum.
My only modifications have been color-coordinated splash guards,
a Precision lower billet aluminum grille, and a few decals here and
there which I've changed as often as I change my mind.
I also have Weathertech floor mats which were suggested by
someone on this forum. My performance has been greatly
enhanced by the addition of a K&N air filter and Amsoil Motor oil.
I have only hand-washed, clayed, and hand-waxed an insane
number of times and Meguiars has been my product of choice.
My next major purchase will be a set of new tires sometime soon.
All in all, it has been a very good year for my Solara and me.
Thanks for reading all this. Now please indulge me
for a few picture highlights of the past year.
Happy Solara-ing to you all...........jimmm
P.S. Forgot to mention that we won 1st Place in our first car
show back in July.

Thanks Ruski. I guess I knew that; so forgive me for being
over-sensitive. I stayed up too late putting that collage
together for the Big Birthday!

It seems to me the more your lara has aged, the cleaner it has become. Happy 1st year.

I hope I have improved it, GZ, but it's hard to improve perfect.
Most of all, I'm still very happy with it, and also very glad I don't
have a sticking accelerator. :(

Great job Jim! Your Solara found it's perfect owner one year ago. Clean car and devoted owner.
I'll have my '06 Solara five years in May. I only have 18266 miles on it. I can't drive right now, but I think, no I know that i need to put more miles on it somehow. Thinking about letting my daughter take it to Mishawaka and drive it while I recover.
Happy anniversary, and glad to have you as a friend!

Congrats Jimmm and....uh, Solara. I don't know, does your Solara have
a name? Or is it just Solara? Anyway, keep up the loving relationship.
Nice collage.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

Wow Jim you really baby that thing! I'm up 20,000 a year on my car, I don't even know where I drive to!

I like the grill and tint, really sets it apart from the everyday Solaras I see around here. Since you're getting new brakes, might as well splurge!

Happy Anniversary!
