The only cost for me was the hairdryer. I had dental floss, water displacement to the 40th power (aka WD40) :D and rubbing compound.

Nice car. Looks clean w/ out the emblems. On my car, I took all of the rear emblems off but the "t" symbol. I wanted to leave one emblem on, and I couldn't decide between the t or the solara. But my car has the spoiler. I think the t emblem would look too high on the car without the spoiler though, so good choice.

btw, for anyone taking off their emblems, I would strongly recommend not using any type of rubbing compound. it may seriously damage or remove the clearcoat. all i did was rub the residue off with my fingers, then used a clay bar in the area. then just throw some wax or polish on there, and you're good to go.

nice job

Postby 2kSolara » Thu Aug 08, 2002 7:20 am

Looks good Kenn

I also removed the badges in the back last weekend...took a hair dryer and fishing line to get them off. Took off the big parts left over with my finger, (rolled right off) and then sprayed a little bit of bumper sticker remover I had lying around the garage on a cloth, and took off the excess. Applied a little polish to it, and you would never know it was there.

What do you guys think about taking off the side badges? I have an SLE V6 so I am not sure what to do, kind of undecided.

Postby SolaraLuva » Thu Aug 08, 2002 7:31 am

i think u should leave the side badges on. it shows kinda what u got and it looks really neat...i took off my back badges but left tha toyota "symbol" there, and this gurl i havent seen in a while saw my car from tha back and said "wow, when did u get this......what is it ? " and that made me so happy :D cuz its so clean, she loved it, and she didnt know what the hell it was ....hella tight

Clay bar...

Postby MonkieX » Thu Aug 08, 2002 10:15 pm

you can get the detailing clay bar from http://www.clay-magic.com/ these are the people that first brought it to the comsumers and not just the professionals. I just bought two bars, the 200g Fine grade. They also have the Medium grade bars, that is the red ones.

Clay Magic is the original and is the best. I've used it for several years now. :D
