going dual exhaust

Postby redkysolarase » Tue Aug 03, 2004 1:20 pm

I just got duals on my car this past saturday and the guy screwed it up :x. The passenger side needs to be moved over 3 inches to the right and lifted about an inch. I have Pilot dual tip mufflers, they're cheap but look good. As soon as I get mine done RIGHT I'll post up pics. Nice deep rumble while it's idling and around 3k rpm's it sounds it's best.

If you're asking why it's screwed up, it's cuz the guy at that shop is a retard and apparently doesn't know how to use a tape measure or even eye ball it and tell it's crooked. I think if I had the tools I could of done it better and I don't know anything hardly about welding or pipe bending. What's even worse is when I went and picked up the car he told me I still owed him 7 bucks cuz he had to use a different y-pipe then what he originally thought. I took one look at the car and said uh no I don't owe you jack so that was it for him.

funny how some ppl equate louder or deeper sound as more power. i bet on the dyno sincde there aren't any dyno tested muffler systems that are dual for our car. since our cars were never designed for it. but hey its always better to add more weight just to look cool. :drinking:

If you're imposing that I think I gave my car more hp then you're wrong. I just wanted the looks and sound. I knew I wouldn't be gaining anything from it. If I did maybe 2 or 3 hp but I seriously doubt it.

What is wrong with you people? We are all fellow Solara owners, why put each other down? Who ever said anything about more power? I'm doing it for looks and sound. Dual exhaust looks good on our cars. Weight increase is minimal. Yeah, if you are racing your car those few pounds would matter, but I don't think most of us race our Solaras.

I'm not worried about that guy at all. I wasn't even getting smart just stating a fact. I don't have any problems with him and if he does with me then that's him.
