Lame Horn

Lame Horn

Postby Optimus » Sun Nov 17, 2002 6:01 pm

Is it just me or is the horn on the solara completely lame?

Here I am in this mid-size car and when someone cuts me off, I want to give them a friendly honk. Yet what eeks out sounds like a toy. Heck, toy horns sound better. It is quite embarrassing. I truly avoid using it for any purpose.

Anyone upgraded or modified their horn?

Perhaps install an airhorn or something that resembles that of a big rig, or just bump that ridiculously funny song... "-MOVE- get out da way.. get out da way..."

I once remembered my old college professor said the reason for the higher pitched horn is so that when little children are playing and decide to run across the street without looking, they can hear it honk, whereas a lower pitch horn may be not as effective. But air horns are definitely nice, may be the triple one with different music melodies. :D

The only thing I think of with musical horns is the......

Dukes of Hazard
Before I go jumping over rivers and cars with my solara, i'll make sure to have that horn. If the General Lee didn't have that, I don't think it would make half of those jumps.

Man, I loved that show. 'Just the good ol' boys.....

Hey man, that dual tone horn is signature Toyota. But everything Toyota/Lexus 2002 and up has switched to the GM sounding horn. Yuck. If you want a beefier horn, try air horns!
