I have already done a search obviously, or I wouldn't be asking. I searched for "Gen 1 Gen 1.5 difference" "Gen 1 Gen 1.5 Comparison" and couldn't get anything that mentioned anything I was looking for. The results included like 65 pages of results and I went through like the first 10. I would understand your impatience if there was a recent post that already contained this info and was easy to locate. However, I haven't been able to locate one.

What is the point of a message board if a person can't ask a question and get a decent reply? If you know the answer then just take the 30 seconds and put it in your reply... I mean you took the time to tell me to search.

If you can give some links to posts or some info it would be much appreciated. Otherwise, PLEASE Do Not Reply to this post.

Biggest differences

Gen 1.5's 4Cyl puts out 25 more HP and has VVTi
Gen1.5 has a different front fascia, including:

Seperate bulbs for the hi/lo beam
Smaller fogs
skinner corner lamp housing
pointy nose, rather than rounded nose
Different grill.

Different Taillights.

Thats pretty much all the big differences. I think the fogs are also wired independent of the headlights in Gen 1.5, and the trunk release is inside the glovebox rather than by the gas lid release. Also has wood trim around the auto shifter, and has a lighter, mustard color wood trim, rather than the burlwood on the Gen1.

Also some other minor differences. I know the 1.5 has a deeper, non-metallic black, and some other colors are probably different as well.

I definitly like the seperate high/low beams alot better. I like the wood trim on the Gen1 better though. Pretty much everything else is your preference.

I completely agree that sometimes it hard to effectively use the search feature, but don't feel discouraged. We get a lot of members that don't bother to use the search function, which could save them a lot of time.

If you are unsuccessful in your search next time, just write in your post, I tried the search but it didn't work. That'll stop most of the people from jumping down your throat

Jon's answer pretty much covered it

 You all don't know how to search!!
I just did "Gen%1%Gen%1.5" under Toyota Solara Gen1-1.5

And found these ...

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... +1+gen+1+5

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... +1+gen+1+5

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... +1+gen+1+5

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... +1+gen+1+5

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... +1+gen+1+5

Or if you even go through the pages on Gen1 - Gen 1.5

Page: 5 http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... highlight=

Page: 13 http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=12060

And before you start asking what VVTI does...

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=12088

I think those will do justice after looking at detailed pictures of both Gen1 and Gen1.5 maybe in the pictures section or car domain dot com?

Including this very thread coming up first.

Hope this suggests people to actually sit down and spend TIME searching. I think people want things to come up so fast and don't spend the extra time looking for what they want. Also just because the subject line does not say what you are searching for does not eliminate the possibility that the content you are looking for is in the body.

I'm done with this. Good Luck on your Solara hunt.
