GM Synchromesh

K so Im thoroughly annoyed by my grinding 2nd gear, and its high-time to do a drain+refill on the tranny fluids.. or maybe even a flush. Anyways, my friend said that his mustang problems and another friend said his civic problems were solved w/ gm synchromesh.. I did the search but it was useless. Anyone put this in their transmission? Or recommend a better transmission oil? thanks

I have similar issues with my 2nd gear synchro. It is worse in the winter but doesn't make the car undriveable by any means. Basically, I have to take a little more care doing a quick 1-2 shift.

The other guy in South Bend with a '99 TRD Solara bought it brand new and had the S/C and all that installed at the dealer. The dealership swapped his tranny for a bad 2nd gear synchro within 5000 miles, so I think there may have been sort of a silent recall for that issue.

I am kicking myself for not having a new synchro put in when I got my new clutch because I realized I am going to keep the Solara for a long time. I changed the MT fluid with a 75w 90 synthetic gear oil blended with hyper lube. The shifter almost feels like it's on ball bearings now, but the 2nd gear synchro still acts up occasionally during hard high rpm 1-2 shifts.
