something wierd with car alarm

something wierd with car alarm

Postby 4banger » Wed Dec 04, 2002 9:50 pm

When I first got my car I'd be sitting in my house, and for no reason(or so I thought) my alarm would go off (usually late at night, my neighbors must have loved it). Figured out it was from the microphone by the flashing red light that's suposed to listen for glass breaking. It was being set off by my cell phone ringing, I guess my ringer sounds like glass breaking to it. Has anyone else had this happen?

Everyday i find a reason to laugh just by coming to solaraguy.com. How did you come to this conclusion?...did you even try changing the ringer on your phone to see if the alarm still goes off? Now thats what i call circumstancial evidence.....

one of the times it was going off I looked through the window and saw my phone was going off, and it was right by the mic. If I have my phone in the charger and I get out of the car I don't arm it anymore.

BTW, I've noticed in my solara, and in my celica(when I had it) that the cigarette lighter outlet doesn't work when the cars off. Are all toyotas like that? Why do they do that, I can't imagine it's that much of a drain on the battery. It's kind of a pain when you want to let your phone charge in the car when you're not in it.

4 banger- I had problems with my car, which is about 6 months old now. After I got the alarm installed, it would go off every couple nights for no reason. Luckily, it hasn't happened in a few months. Maybe you need to just wait it out :D

wouldn't it be safer to take your phone out, and arm the car? or like eyedea said, change the ringer. maybe simply moving the phone might work too. but shouldn't you always arm your alarm?

you can find a "always hot" wire (red) and cut your + lighter wire and tap into the always hot wire.
