Besides the speed. What else can a S/C do for a solara or even the driver? Yea, it can probably give you some G-force and pull your neck back a bit. But is it worth it?

Do you still get good mileage?
Does it hurt the engine?
Is it worth the money?

How come people use TRD superchragers or other, but i never hear about VORTEC superchargers, WUTS UP? Doesn't fit?

Correct my friend only TRD makes a S/C for our cars.
About the same MPGs if you don't gun it everytime.
And yeah it worth it.

When you're trying to figure out if the supercharger is worth the cost, keep in mind that you're probably going to want other mods to maximize the benefits of the s/c. You'll probably want to get a more free-flowing exhaust system, a fuel controller, etc. If you get really addicted, you'll want headers, new injectors, smaller pulleys, and additional fuel mods. The supercharger by itself is OK, especially if you have a 5 speed, but it's the other stuff that really makes it fun. That "other stuff" can easily double the cost.

It has been worth it. Gas mileage is not really affected, even when I'm getting on it all the time around town, I still get around 18mpg.

The TRD S/C is made by Kazuma, which is really an Eaton roots blower, basically similar to the type of S/C on a GTP, which has been an OE production part for several years. They S/C'ers are tried and true and require little to no maintenance. I think Vortec tends to make centrifugal S/C'ers which would require a custom set-up for the 1mz-fe.

If you are really going to do it, it would behoove you to get plugs, injectors and Jim's fuel upgrade installed simulaneously.
