Help! bumpstop & strut mount questions

Postby hskrsolara » Fri Jul 29, 2005 10:17 am

First off, I did the search and still didn't find the answers to my questions. I have the tokico/tein setup and thanks for any help you guys can provide!

1.) For those with Tein springs, how much of the bumpstop did you trim off? Did you trim off of the top or bottom of the stop? Once the stop is cut, where should it be placed on the strut shaft (vertically) to operate properly? Any differences for the front-rears?

2.) I was extremely disheartened when I saw that the boots on my rear strut mounts (suspension supports) were cracked and ripped and must be replaced. For those of you who have replaced your mounts or boots, where did you buy them, cause my local dealership wants to charge me $125 a piece and I didn't think that was reasonable. Can you get the boot separate? From some research, it looks like the OEM rear mounts are made by KYB...The best price I found was $53.55 each from etoyotaparts.com...Are these guys reliable? I also need the lower insulator that sits between the spring and the strut, for both rears.

Thanks again for any help that you guys have!

Allright, I will probably not cut the bumpstop then. Any help with the strut mounts? or EToyotaParts.com?

Well, I hope EToyotaParts.com is ok, I'll just buy from them.

I just installed my teins and tocikos last weekend. I cut my bumpstops in half. It says to do that in the instructions with your springs. I used the bigger half. Based on other peoples experiences that i read on this forum i would cut the bumpstops. Seems that people have problems with the struts bottoming out more cause there is less travel for them if you dont cut them.

Ditto! My ride quality sucked without the stops cut due to zero front suspension travel. Those teins do go low in the front!
