There gonna cut out the rear quarter panal from your car.......where the quarter panal from the rear bumper to inbetween the rear wind and rear driver/passenger side window (dunno what that piece is exactly called) and almost to the door will be entirely replaced. Its not a small job to repair the rear quarter panals. Depending on how bad the damages are will also determine how much more work is gonna have to be done.

I've only had the bumper re-painted and that cost me $650, insurance paid b/c some douche bag wasn't watching when he was backing up and decided to bounce afterwards......took off after him, got his plate and reported it. For a complete front end, bumper, bumper support, paint thats definately gonna be no less then $1,200. Also make sure the shop looks at the frame to see if its bent or not. Getting the frame pulled is also kinda costly.

Good thing nothing was jacked from your ryde and that insurance is paying for it. I'd take it to a bodyshop of your choice, not the insurance company of the other person your going through and make sure all parts your getting are OEM from the dealership. I'd even shoot for a new paint job if you can get it.

Hope all goes well with the repairs on your ryde.

both of us have state farm, so i hear it will be a lot less hastle. do you think i should take it to a toyota dealership with "collision center" or to any body shop?

i appreciate the info guys

DatSRBoi - sorry, no pics

1st Gen Sol - i'm not familiar with dealing with insurance companies. how would i justify a new paint job? (numerous scratches resulting from the accident?)

From what I know, the dealerships around here don't do bodywork. They normally send it out for body repair or for repainting.

If you have a bodyshop that you have used in the past, know a friend that can recommend one to you that they have used before or have a friend that works at one and get the specifics after they look at the car.

In oreder for you to get your entire car painted, depending on how bad your quarter panal is, that entire side from just about the door to where the rear bumper starts is gonna have to be re-painted. In some cases the paint will also not match if they can't blend it correctly which is hard in some cases.

Your also getting the front repainted, so I would just mention getting the entire car painted b/c you don't want a mismatched paint job on the car and if you can, keep on telling the shop that you insist the entire car being repainted instead of just the pieces being repaired (bringing it to there bodyshop of choice or a Toyota Collision Center will not do this for you).

I have a similar problem, with a side-swipe dent on that left rear-quarter panel. I don't have the money for a full repair, but I can probably swing a paintless dent repair. Is there ANY possibility that if I get a bunch of touch-up paint I can make it look, if not perfect, then at least less noticeable? (I think I asked this on another thread, but I forget).

^^^^ Only thing I can think of is to either do is :

a) halfazz job and use a plunger to take out the dent if its just pushed in.....
or
b) remove the panals on the inside of the trunk behind the quarter panal and bang out the dents (I'd try this method out to just get out some of the dents)....

......using a ton of touch up paint isn't gonna help you much. Touch up paint is just for rock chips and stuff to cover the chipped paint so rust doesn't form.....can't really use it on a bigger job like painting a quarter panal or something. Plus I'd imagine it would cost a pretty penny for that much touch paint, midas well get it in a spray can along with the clear coat if you gonna go in that direction.

Yes, sounds good- any idea where/how to get that spray can set-up, and how much that might cost? (Lunar Mist, should be a decently easy color to find, right?)

Yeah they cut near the window on the bottom and near the rear bumper and weld on a new piece and repaint it.
That happened to dads car but he lost control and f-ed up the right rear quarter panel and they welded a new piece back there; and painted it back to new.
Make sure they use Dupont.
That way it will last, and it has some polyurthane stuff in there to last long too.
