So I should go with drilled rotors for pad reliability. Personally i think the stock pads work great so i probably will stick with those. As for brembos rusting on the untouched surfaces is there any other drilled rotors you can buy that dont rust? And what type of material are the stock pads for our cars? I read once on this site that they are ceramic but for some reason that sounds too good coming from the factory.

Ceramic pads are best.
They withstand lots of heat.
I had a theory that slotted would chop up pads.
Heard that some cross-drilled are pron the crack.
But PowerSlot does have slotted but alot cryo-ed for lastin' longer.

Slotted, or drilled, or both.

Blanks for larger surface area + improved braking.

Slotted if you want to refresh your pads to new condition regularly since the slots cut into the pads. But it decreases the surface area for braking and also lowers the pads life.

Had brembo Drilled they wore out and braked very quickly about 10K miles then they were compleatly gone and I don't think they even helped much for my daily driving, Unless you are going to the track drilled and slotted are more for bragging rights.

So does anybody know what material the factory break pads are for our cars?

I got drilled Magnum rotors all around and am using ThermoQuiet's ceramic pad set. I also upgraded to the Goodridge G-stop stainless steel brake lines.

I've only been using them for about 5000km. But so far what I noticed was after breaking them all in, the stopping power is really nice. When I completely slam on the brakes there is a grinding feeling, but I'm guessing thats from the pads rubbing on the drilled holes really hard. When I just brake normally it's quiet and smooth.

The only reason I decided to go with the thermoquiet's is because my friends who are in a 240sx club all use them and they have some really fast cars with NICE swapped engines... so I figured if they use them they probably work pretty good.

I took my friend's advice and made sure the drilled rotors I got were chambered and zinc charged so they don't rust as quick and the chambering will help (but can't prevent) cracking.

Chamfering you mean, when they round the edges of each hole. I personally do not trust any rotor that has been drilled or slotted and I wouldnt pay the premium to own them. I have thermoquiets on the back and bendix ceramic on the front and they are nice - strong stops, low dust and inaudible under any load.
