Spark plugs and wires

Postby SleeperSolara » Wed Sep 07, 2005 7:32 am

Hey i was wonderin' if "Denso IK22 Sparkplugs" are good for my NA V6 auto Solara????
Would that be ok for my car.
Cause i'm thinkin' about gettin' some wires from "greg" and those spark plugs from "xtychx".
Will this work good wit my NA V6??

I think a colder sparking plug (IK20 is stock, IK22 is colder spark) doesnt last as long as a normal sparking plug.

I'm not sure though, someone needs to confirm. I'd check Denso's site but its always been confusing to me.

Since you're N/A. . . I think you should stick with the stock temperature

IK20 is the iridium plug.

I read the blue and white sticker on the underside of the hood that clearly states "use platinum plugs with twin ground electrodes". When I did my 60k plug change I went with PK20 (PK20TR11). They are also made by denso, but are the multi-ground platinum plugs recommended by toyota.

If you have no future plans for running boost, use PK20.

Platinum lasts longer, Iridium should perform better.

They used to use platinum in Gen1 Solara and Gen4 Camry, but they use iridiums in the lexus ES, and I think the Gen2 Solaras (I need confirmation for that). They probably got the denso iridiums up to the point where the last as long as the platinums.

I'm using IK20s. Either way, I doubt you will notice any difference, so Platinum or Iridium will work.

Actually they said Iridiums are suppose to last 100K. . . haha after I did the sparkplug change. . . I really dont want to do it for another 100K
