Car starts, then shuts off

I'm having a wierd problem lately. On a cool day (after I've parked for acouple hours) I goto start my car and it doesn't start on the first time. The rpm needle just dies. Usually It goes straight to the 1000 rpm. So I rev up the motor to around 3000 rpms for about 5 mintues and my car stays on again like normal. Should I be worried about this? Could this be due to the fact that I'm using 87 octane with my S/C?

ALSO YOU'RE USING 87 OCTANE WITH A BOOSTED CAR!

That might not be helping you know. I know prices are harsh, and not from experience, but from what I've heard and read many many many times, it's a good idea to take the hit in the pocket for the higher octane. I'm N/A and I do it anyway. At least I'll be used to it once I'm boosted.

Yes, what Alex said. My accelerator was sticking so I searched around the forum, cleaned my throttle body (very oily) and it's all good now. I had a throttle position sensor CEL several months back. It was only a $50 OE part, but come to think, the throttle body probably just needed to be cleaned...

Mine used to do that, I found out my intake wasnt on tight enough so I had an intake leak. I tightened the clamps and i didnt get anymore starts that sputtered and died. Dont know how this relates to an SC application though.

Clean the throttle body
Clean the idle air control valve
Check the air filter/air filter box and clean/replace filter as needed
Your s/c was clean when you installed it, right?
