Cruise control not working

Cruise control not working

Postby that1mexguy » Fri Sep 30, 2005 6:37 pm

If it's not one thing it's the other..... I'm driving down the street, I'm tired so I decide to get the cruise control going so I turn it on, push the little switch down to set and but it doesn't kick in! I'm like WTF (not you, the expression) and then i see the "CRUISE" light in the dash is blinking ... have you guys experienced that before? or does the weird stuff only happens to me?! LOL

IIRC, a blinking cc light represents a failure somewhere in the cc system. In my experience if I'm going too fast for the cruise to engage, nothing will happen when I try to set it. But there's no blinking to indicate a failure to engage.

You may want to do some research to verify this. It's past my bedtime and I'm a bit foggy.

I was going 50mph, I've used it at that speed before. I figured it was some sort of failure in the CC system but I just dont know what. I wonder if the people that installed my SFAC II messed something up.

I'm afraid it's time to get the system looked at.

As an aside, what is a SFAC?

Ten bucks to a hole in a doughnut, the something amiss being sensed by the cruise control system is stemming from the S-AFC.

Check the DTC.
HINT:
If a malfunction occurs in the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor or actuator,
etc. during cruise control driving, the ECU actuates
AUTO CANCEL of the cruise control and turns on and off the
CRUISE MAIN indicator light to inform the driver of a malfunction.
At the same time, the malfunction is stored in memory as
a DTC.

IF you get me a DTC code, I'll tell you what is wrong.

I'm having the same problem. Did you ever figure out what was causing it or how to fix it?
