because they crack easier and arent as sparkling as glass ones yea i have this plastic polish that cleans them up really well but still glass is betta!

I dont know any car later than 1998 that uses glass headlight/corner light coverings.

If you want to keep the lights nice. Do this

DA them down with like 320 or so (depending on how bad)
hit them with something like 700 then 1000 (some people like to use 1200 but 1000 is fine)

Get some monkey cum and buff them really good.

Get some sheets of 3M clearbra and apply that over the headlight. You might be amazed how nice it keeps them. At the worst you just replace the clearbra. Its cheap anyway..

They stopped using glass in most car's headlights because plastic is cheaper and easier to bend, and has a higher melting point. Also, glass shatters and plastic just cracks. (Shattered glass + hot halogen bulb = melted shards of glass.) Plastic is less clear though, and can pit and fog. Glass generally doesnt.

And glass should crack easier, it doenst have any flexibility like plastic. Chances are if your plastic cracked, and that was glass, the glass would be shattered or spider-webed instead.

There is no glass for any of our lamp's lens for Solaras, stock or aftermarket.

Heres a question. In order to put real HID's in don't you have to convert your headlights to glass? Cause wouldn't the heat from the HIDs melt it the factory ones? If all is true, how do you guys use HID's with the factory stuff? I would have thought there would be an aftermarket one out there

HIDs run cooler than Halogens. HIDs run around 30w, Halogens around 60w.

Lower wattage + higher light output = less loss in heat.

And Im not sure but I think glass has a lower melting temperature than modern heavy duty plastic. I still need to figure that one out.

The only car or suv i can think off that has glass headlights is the Lexus LX470 that my dad has, they are still like new after 5 years.

Well that is some new info, Wow im impressed. I always thought the brighter the light the higher the temperature. What are some good HID kits that are available for our cars?

just get some plastic cleaner, its the shhhhhhhhh. Made my headlights/tails look brand new, makes non-car buffs question the year of my car.
