just a couple cat-back questions......

Postby SolaraBlue » Sat Nov 05, 2005 5:32 pm

i like how quiet my solara is, its a huge reason i bought my car in the first place. i'd like to change the exhaust with a cat-back just as quiet as stock, maybe with a little more "grunt" but not something people will hear 3 miles down the road or buzz through the whole interior. do any of you guys have any idea where i would find a "quiet" cat-back like this? or does "loud" just come with the territory?

-thanks fellas-

I think you'll have to find the right mufflers. It shouldn't matter that your running 2, but there's not alot of room for a big muffler (which I think are more quiet sounding. I had to have my spare tire well bashed in quite a bit to get my driver side muffler on.

I have the original apexi world sport and it's been great.

When I was shopping for exhausts, I wanted the exact same thing. Quiet, but with a little nicer toners and better exhaust flow because I'm S/C.

Get the WSII and check around on the for sale forum, there are a few on sale for real cheap.

I have just go the Greddy Evo exhuast.
It sounds nice, til you get on it.
But if you have a V6 and you get higher in the RPM's the engine noise will dampin' out hte Evo exhaust.

I think in the cheaper listings they are just offering the muffler. Where the more expensive are the full cat back systems???

http://www.sportcompactwarehouse.com/PROD/116-KT02 , I did a search on this website and both the muffler and full exhaust systaem were listed for $426. But I believe that site isnh't updated correctly, because the shipping weight for the muffler is 70 lbs, while the exhaust only weighs 40.
