cp-e Releases 17wHP for Gen1!

Great news Gen 1 guys. Custom Performance Engineering has completed the kits for the Gen 1 and updated their website to take orders. This is the same MAF-ci system they made for Gen 2 with a 3.5" intake pipe, better-than K&N filter, and a pretuned AFC that allows for the 36% increase in intake area at the MAF.

Check out the website at www.cp-e.com and see the pics of the MAF in the stock pipe (same size as Injen I'll bet) and the cp-e pipe. But the bottom line is power, sound, and look.

Power:Check the Dyno's below. Great boost in power across the board. No just peaking in one place. Avg. bump is 15HP to the wheels.

Sound: The 3.5" pipe on the Gen 2 is just f'in amazing. I'm sure Gen 1 will be as killer. You sound like a flippin' Ferrari roaring by the traffic. No ricer whine.

Look: They had to add a heat shield for the Gen 1 but the powder coated pipe looks sweet.

As a promotional offer to get some reviews posted on their newest product, they will be selling the first two pipes at 50% off. I've met their whole team and they stand by their products. Money back guaruntee. With a deal like that you have nothing to lose. Secure online ordering is available and you can call the numbers on the site for any questions. Also feel free to PM me for info on the intake.

Note: They have an in house tuning dyno but they get DynoJet runs before and after to show that they aren't "icing" the results like so many shops will nowadays.

At half price for a test order I'll do it if I get the Solara I'm planning on getting, and then I'll test it at a dyno myself. I could see this benifiting over an Injen SRI in decent weather, but with the UPFD CAE on the Injen SRI I think this would falter from that setup in the summer months where it will then become simply a hot air intake. Interestingly, I may have the funds in the upcoming months if I do have another Solara to test these methods all at either a dyno, or a track as the incoming air on any intake from a moving vehicle is going to yield different results than a car sitting on a dyno.

I do give them props on trying to help us, but I think at a price higher than the entire Injen w/ CAE setup for our car their system won't see the type of sales they're hoping for. Considering the proportiong of gen 1 owners who tune their cars to gen 2 owners who tune their cars, their sales will be very skewed toward a disproportionate number of gen 2 sales, mostly due to lack of competition. I guess we'll see.

True, true.

^^^EXACTAMUNDO^^^ Price is quite up there, but for that type of gain, I'm certain it's well worth it. If anyone get's this, please write reviews of your honest opinion!

Thanks for the update Mike!

oh yes, this looks far better than the injen setup.

the maf is so small with this kit that it has to flow at least twice as much air

this looks like a really good idea for forced induction guys

Keep in mind that you're also getting a new MAF. Aftermarket MAF's for different platforms usually retail for around $200.

If you're going to run this setup, I would highly recommend Jim's fuel mod. My 3" CAI caused me pop the old 171/330 combo w/o being charged.

how is the install with the piggyback unit? and will this work perfect with the s/c? This seems interesting. Hopefully they get it installed on a s/c'd car. Very interested

S/C applications

Postby JMSinMaryland » Wed Nov 23, 2005 9:46 am

I just gave them a call. Both they and I are in MD. The applications for the Gen 1 are for non supercharged applications. I spoke to them about doing something for us (those with S/C using mine as a base with a 4psi pulley). They said they would need at least 20 people with deposits of 50% (which I would be willing to hold) to develop the kit. This setup is not just for an intake, this setup also changes the MAF settings to get the most power, but the MAF settings for the S/C and NA cars would be different. I'll put myself down on the list as the first. I already have my deposit in hand.

This would only be for the 1MZ-FE applications that have a TRD supercharger available for them. I believe that would be the 1997-2001 Camry, 1999-2003 Solara and 1995-1999 Avalon. Please correct me if Im wrong. Jon.
