Powered sub woofers, component speakers or traditional subs?

Powered sub woofers, component speakers or traditional subs?

I just got my Solara two days ago and already I'm looking to upgrade the system. I guess the older I get the more I'm into sound quality thats produced rather than four 12's hitting. Here's my questions...

I'm looking into a powered sub thats compact like a tube or even this kenwood

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... Track=true

Would this be descent to do the job with the factory JBL's?

I have components before to and did a great job but the cost was up there since I wanted to go the correct route? Would this be the best bet?

Last would be the traditional I have a sub in the box that rattles.... Meaning, I have to dynomate everything which is more money!

Or is there a specific custom box that can be made for a solara etc... I used to have a delsol and I pretty much customed it to be one of the top imports in the county. But I got a job with a company car and sold the sol. Now I just quite the job and had to buy a car so the solara was the car I went with. I looked at the DIY, not all the pages since it'll take forever but I saw nothing.

Please help! Thanks

lets see some pics of the delsol i wanna see what one of the top imports in the country looks like... as for that kenwood id probably avoid it, i dont like the regular kenwood subs let alone a little powered sub with a 6.5 inch driver and not a whole lot of power.. if i were you i would just go out and buy a decent amp and 1 10 or 1 12"sub and put a higher end head unit in there, believe it or not the factory jbl speakers arent bad once you give them more power with a cleaner signal...

Yeah... the Del Sol statement may get you flamed a bit unless you can put up something... Just kinda odd to have that statement and be askin about Bazooka Tube class subs relating to sound quality...

To be honest, I'd say that you'd probably be fine following Nate's advice... Get a solid headunit with a sub out, run it to a decent amp and a single 10" or 12"...

Even if you decked that delsol out with the best sound system that money will buy.... i dont see how a Honda Del Sol can be one of the top imports in the country... hell i'd take a factory lexus over a decked out delsol. In my opinion, lexus is some of the best imports in the country (Not including the solara of course lol) As far as your sound... get you an 10" Alpine type R and a small bridegable amp. The Alpine type R has very fast response for tighter and cleaner bass... this will keep with your "sound quality". Also, the factory JBL's in the solara sound better than some Alpine components that i had in a celica so keep those just get a good HU.
