I just installed my trd muffler this past week, i love the tone it puts out but i have one question, is it supposed to get quieter as the rpms go up? I really hear it up to 3k and after that it quiets down.

my greddy evo2 does the same thing. the engine gets really loud and u can only hear it and the intake past like 5K rpms. but in the lower rpms it gives a nice growl. dunno if its the same for the TRD or not.

Absolutely typical Yanks. I have the full JP headers and y-pipe and it is even more noticable in the same manner. I will probably have a TRD muffler for sale soon. Only used a couple months. I like the way it fits under the car better than stock because it is smaller and stainless looks better too...except for the flange. How much did you pay for yours??

I bought it from Greg for 50 plus i had to pay 60 for the shop to fix the flange connection to make it fit because Greg had dual custom exhausts. I dont know if i got a good deal but nothing to cry about.

$110 is a very good deal if that includes shipping. You're right no crying.

I don't want to just install the muffler, I would want the muffler shop to do it because I want bigger exhaust pipes, 2.5 inches installed along with the muffler.

I bought the other TRD muffler from Greg and also had to have the flange removed. I had an independent muffler shop do the welding and added some pipe to the muffler for $65 plus the $50 for the muffler. I had an Injen intake on before I put the muffler on. The intake was loud but with the addition of the muffler the sound leveled off and in the similar rpm range and I like it. I had the muffler hidden up in the OEM muffler slot so all you can see is the tip of the muffler.

So it looks like we spent the same amount. Did you like the tips? One word of advice is to go buy some oven paint or barbecue paint (high heat) and spray it on all the parts they worked on, like the welding. Because as soon as you heat stainless up it gets rusty in 24hrs. If i get custom piping it will be 2.25 in diameter that ensures low end torque and more high end power.

I like the tip that came on it. My muffler came painted black. Did yours come polished? Either way I am satisfied with it. Like I said earlier that I hid most of the muffler in the OEM location and all you can basically see is the chrome tip. All the areas where the welding took place were painted with high temp black paint. I did not increase the diameter size of the pipe. If I wanted to increase the size of the pipe then it would have to be done from the header collector back and taking off the reasonator. I did not want to increase the interior noise by doing this so I left the diameter alone.
