Megan Racing Headers For 1MZFE Update

Postby trd4life » Thu Aug 11, 2005 8:29 pm

This is Doug and I'm using a friends login to give you guys some updates on the Megan Racing Headers for the 1MZFE that is in the 97-01 Camry, Solara and ES300 for the auto and 5 speed. I have sent out the pipes and Steve at Megan Racing has received them. We discussed diferent ways to make the headers and Steve has decided that they will make 2 versions of the headers. The first version wil be for all of the N/A motors and will have larger then stock header pipes that will be equal length with a 2.5" collector pipe and there is talk of making it double flanged so that there can be a section of the pipe that has a cat on it and can be easily swapped out to an off road test pipe. The second version will have even larger header pipes and will merge into a 3" collector and will be for the supercharged and nitrous cars as well for anyone who has modded their motor. If you have any questions please email me at squatch197@yahoo.com.

This makes the whole thing slightly more complicated in a way.

I wanted to get these when they came out due to a discounted price, but am currently NA and plan on in the future being boosted in some way shape or form, but don't know if getting those headers while still NA will have a negative effect or not.

That was a few thoughts meshed into a run on sentence, but I think I got it across.

It woulded be a problem to wait, but if they're making the price lower for an initial run, then I don't want to end up getting screwed if I wait on them.

Alright thanks for the update! Sounds like things are progressing and having two types of headers is a good plan. I also like the idea of the double flange. Keep us updated.

im in the same shoes as domino, for the time being, my car is N/A. however, through time, i will be doing various odds and ends and supercharging my car is a high likelihood, however, that would mean that i would have to buy the second version of the headers. is there ANY way where you can mix both? i dont know how, but itd be nice if you could.

Yeah, my shop kinda took this over. Right now, I'm waiting for the second product release. The first one blew all the gaskets, had a couple of funny bends, and needed new locations for the sensors. I'm waiting to get the next model, should be in a month or so I hope.

It did have the double flange, by the way

Yeah. Be patient for these, set a decent chunk of change aside for when they're released, and invest elsewhere. This will insure that when they are released, you can get them right away, and that will be good for all. Considering the high priced JPP alternative... I'd say it's worth the wait.
