Cheap 15 HP increase!

I added a K&N air filter to my factory air box (no CAI), and Lucas Oil Stabilizer to my engine oil, and to my gear lube. I am also using Lucas Fuel Treatment in my fuel. According to my G-Tech meter I now have 15 horsepower over stock! In addition my RPM's @ 75 MPH dropped 175 RPM's. While that isnt a huge drop, it means my top end might be higher than 120 MPH now ("MIGHT" be, NOT "is").
It was damn cheap too!
K&N Filter: $35.00

Fifteen horsepower for only $55? Who wouldn't do that! By the way MANY drag race teams, nascar teams, etc. use Lucas Oil products, so yes it is that good!

Not always, like every other, or you could do it each time. Costs $$

Yes, but @ $8.00 for almost a liter of the fuel stabilizer it is cheap enough to do. You only have to put in about 2-3 ounces for 10 gallons of fuel, so a liter will last about 10-16 fills (1 Liter = 33.81 ounces) so it will cost you $0.48 to $0.72 per fill up. In terms of the Oil Stabilizer you only have to add 25% of your oil capacity, so you will get about 4 oil changes per liter of Lucas Oil Stabilizer ($12/4 = $3.00 per oil change).

I'm really not sure how much the oil stablizer helps the HP effort. I guess any rotating assemblies can be less restricted... of course I'm too ignorant and lazy to check out the lucas oil site right now to see exactly what this stuff does, but it sounds sweet.

I put a K&N filter in my stock airbox on the ca rI have now and didn't notice a differenc ein anything, I figured it was good for maybe 2.5 hp at absolute best

I'm sorry to say buth your G-Tech is wrong. They are inaccurate by nature, and this just proves it.

As domino said, the KN is good for 0-5HP and the stabilizer really wouldn't do much.

There is no cheap way to gain HP, however, you're on the right path.

Lucas Oil Stabilizer helps turn the oil into a polymer like structure, so it forms a continuous film over the metal (it is not a polar covalent bond between molecules, but even a hydrogen bond is pretty strong). This allows it to cling to the underside of piston rings, which increases compression, thereby increasing horsepower. Will Dyno this afternoon for "true" numbers.

I believe horsepower tv did a dyno on a z28 with generic oils and then drained the crankcase, rear diff, and transmission...filled all three with lucas oil stuff and a lucas fuel additive. then they dynoed again. They gained about 30 hp. while I realize that the 350 probably had more resriction, however, I believe that the right oils will net you more power to the wheels. they dont actually add hp though. They just reduce what your drivetrain absorbs due to friction.

Sorry dude... but you're being a total moron. If your RPM's dropped at a particular speed... that means your trans has issues.
That has nothing to do with power.
Whether you're stick (especially if you're stick) or auto, your gear ratio doesn't change with your choice of oil and any auto trans
would be locked up at 75 so... same thing.

Not to flame but while we're at it, 1 liter = 1.056688 quarts. So one liter of the stuff is about what you'd need each oil change.

Well - I'm no big believer in "snake oil" additives, etc... but I do know from experience that the K&N (or TRD) drop in filters will help response and overall performance because it can let the engine BREATHE - and... I've always run Mobil 1 synthetic from the first oil change on and that has done me well for last 4 cars.

Not sure how any additve will gain HP - but less friction and oil stability will definitely help parts last longer - which is why I stick with the Mobil 1. Never tried gas additives - always heard they were a waste of $$.
