CAE noise?

CAE noise?

Postby calreef18 » Thu Mar 02, 2006 2:01 am

Hi everyone, I recently installed my CAE onto the injen short ram on my car, and it seems to always have a resonating humming sorta sound, is that normal? I've oriented it in so many different ways to get rid of the sound but its still there even when its lined up perfectly. Anywho its not that big of a deal other than the whistling humming sound that is occuring, but its kinda loud so I'd like to get rid of it if possible. Seems to be originating from the lower part, around the air filter area, and only noticeable when the car is just sitting in idle at a stop light or in park, the sound of the intake drowns out the hum when running. Thx in advance.

Nah not the sizz, its hard to describe, I dunno if you remember them as a kid but remember those flexible toy hoses you could twirl around slow and they made a low pitch noise noise, thats the same sorta noise that's coming from the tube... like wooooOOOoooooooOOOOoo haha 8) .

That is normal. It's the IAC humming. Mine is really loud. Probably louder than others. I tested it by temporarily putting my stock intake back on and the noise disappeared. When I get time I'm going to try and put the stock oil trap/sound baffle back on with one of those $10 eBay intakes and see if that helps.

sounds like a normal noise, when i had one on my camaro it made a popping noise when the engine was cold. once it warmed up it goes away. I know its a different car, but same concept.
