The no name brand intakes are not worth it. Buy the injen.

Those performance chips do nothing for your car. Infact you run the risk of screwing something else. If you could gain 10hp for $3.99 don't you think toyota would have done it already. If a stupid resistor could advance timing we would all do it :D Stay away from them

that "chip" ugrade is only a resistor. you can buy it at Radio Shack for 1.19 apiece. but long-term effects could do harm. . .

If you really believe that works, I feel sorry for you. You get what you pay for with intakes. Injen intake = proven, no name = problems down the road.

Just wait till it starts to fall apart in a few months/years. Then the engine will suck in the small pieces as it breaks up. Theres a reason, other than the "injen" slapped on the side that the brand names are so expensive

I tried one of these "no name" intakes. It was OK. The polish on it didn't seem to hold up very well at all though, and after 2 months it started to look really tacky. I then picked up a Weapon-R. The quality is much better with it, as I am sure the Injen's is as well.

I think Yanks said it best, opt for the brand name. Also, if you do a search on Intakes you will find that some of the more respected Solara Guys find that Intakes aren't really a good choice at all.

I would think in Texas you don't see the road salt that we do up here. It chews up everything. Personally, I doubt there is that much of a difference in performance, as these no names probably just rip-off Injen or AEM. I guess there might be a metal quality difference (heat), but on a short ram I wouldn't be sure how much that matters. Putting that generic one I have up next to my Weapon-R the only difference I can see is the finish and metal quality of the Weapon-R seems alot better, but in Aggies case, I think you know what looks good in your car :). Any you guys have an Injen and one of the generics lying around to compare them?
