Hey all,

I'm in a bit of a time crunch for this decision, as I have an appointment for tomorrow at 11am Central to get tinted.

Currently I am planning on getting 35% fronts, 20% rear and back.

Anything lower than 35% in the fronts is illegal in MO, but the shops will still do it if you ask - I checked.

Question - who else has this blend? Is it alright, or will I really regret not going 20% all around?

I have 15% in the front and 10% in the back 3 windows. You cant really tell the shade difference at all. Just its easier to see in the front windows than it is in the back. To me, it looks good. I'm sure it would look good on your car to.

in north carolina where i live its illegal to put any tint thats less than 35% on cars.. i put 20% on the sides and 35% on the rear window.. i wish i've done 20% all around cause u can see through 35% easily from outside.. around my area they don pull people over to check their tint and i know someone in inspection..

The cops here are actually quite lenient when it comes to traffic enforcement.. They've got much bigger fish to fry with actual crime, and the outrageous car theft rate in this city.

I heard that the highway patrol, however, are all equipped with detection devices for below 35% and will ticket.

My concern really isn't about them.. I just don't want to overdo it, I guess.. I'm not looking for limo, pimp-style tint on the car, but don't want it to be too light either.

I felt the same way, but i decided if i were to go and get my windows tinted, i was going to go all out and got 5% all the way around. i LOVE it and i have never ever been pulled over for it. Plus, it keeps the car cooler during the day. Im actually thinking about getting my windshield tinted soon

Advice

I've had 35% all around, 20% all around, 35/20 split, etc. 20% can get difficult when backing up at night, 35% is way too light. If I were to do another vehicle I would get 30% or 35% all around including windshield (depending on how risky you want to go). 30% in my opinion is just the right amount. Jon.

I don't have tint in my Solara, I thought tinted windws on a convertible would look silly. However, I did have tint on my previous car, and I don't think that it makes much of a difference when you are talking about keeping the car cool.

If the sun is beaitng down on your car, it's going to be hot, no matter how much tint you have in your car. At least that's the way it is here in FL.

Now, if you want it for looks, that's another thing. I thought I'd miss having tinted windows, but I don't at all. I was relieved that it didn't bother me.

as always the darker the tint the more it gets the look across (looks better)

however it really depends on the lighting as to how your car looks..i got the lightest 35% all around (minus front windshield) and unless it is a bright sunny day the tint looks good. im at work most of the day and cruising at night so really no need for me to get dark tint..

do 20% all around...you dont have to worry about not seeing while in reverse at night, and the cops wont mess with you. if you want it a shade darker, putting an additional 35% tint on the windshield will darken the interior A LOT.

what color is your interior? if it is tan, definitely get the 20%. If it is black, it will look much darker. plus, if you ride around at night with the sunroof open, it will brighten up the tint quite a bit too.

I have had 35% all around and am damn glad i went 20% all around this time. if you want it a shade darker once you get the windows done, tint the windshield.

Yeah, that's the thing - my interior is the light beige..

Since I'm thinking of doing a combination, I've heard that just having the darker (20%) tinting in the backs and rear window will actually even make the 35% in the front a bit darker too..

I'm really not worried about seeing out at night, etc. I used to have a car with 20% all around, and never had any trouble.

Someone mentioned 30%.. I wonder if that's even an option at this place. I may ask about that, and if so, possibly do 30% front, 20 rear and back..

Aw, hell I don't know.

Thanks for all the comments.

it also looks much better when all the windows match in tint %, imho. i think is looks a bit tacky when you start mixing a bunch of different darknesses together...good luck to ya.
