My Solara's dead :(

By valve protection you mean the piston to valve clearance is large enough to accomodate the piston being at top dead center with the valve all the way open without touching...Thats good to know! I wonder what our cam specs are.

Also like i said before. Its not the maf cuz you could unplug it and the car will still try to crank. like hit a couple times and die. I did it like that when i got my clutch job done. i dont think its your maf

one more also. do you have any CODES???

Yep, everything stayed intact. I only had about 62k miles...

Wait do you mean your belt snap or was it just off? I get bad idle sometime.

with a timing gun.
the starter's good because when it died I tried starting it in gear (I disabled my clutch safety feature, it's annoying having to push in the clutch to start the car all the time) and the car moved every time, never slipped.
So the MAF sensor would not stop the car from igniting is what you were saying?

and I don't have an obd2 tool to check any codes. wouldn't the car have to be running to throw codes? cause i've noticed that the CEL is always on until the car actually starts, but it's been doin that for 3 years, seems normal operation.

just checked the maf, the sensors clean, and there's 2 resistor lookin things inside it. so it's not visibly bad at least.
got a friend comin with an obd2 reader later on. then after that, if it's somethin i can't do myself, i've got a friend that's a toyota mechanic that i'm most likely gonna tow my car to (an hour away). i don't have a clue whats wrong any more.

the only things that dont throw codes are injectors and ingnition modules(ignitor). Have you checked spark? like take the plug wire off put a screwdriver in it and let it arc against something while someone is turning the car over?

yup, she's got spark. It was cool cause I never knew how many amps run thru the spark plugs. The arc was cool to watch. But ya, she's gettin spark. Had someone put their head to the fuel pump and it works too.
