HELP!! Whiteline sway bar wont fit into place

HELP!! Whiteline sway bar wont fit into place

Postby trd4life » Tue Mar 11, 2003 10:46 am

I jacked up the car on both sides. removed both wheels. The two bracket bushings came off easily, along with the one end link nut on each side. The stock sway bar slid out easily through the drivers side. Now I cannot get the whiteline bar to slide into place. No matter Wich way i try to maneuver the bar it will just get stuck or not slide all the way to the other side.

Anyone have any ideas on how i can this thing in?? I have tried inserting it from the drivers and passenger side and each time i can get the bar about 3/4 of the way through, but then the curve on eahc side of the bar gets jammed and it wont slide through the small space riight behind the rotor.

thanks guys

unbolt the muffler from the exhaust pipe. i found this made the job a LOT simplier with the TRD swaybar

i have tried to install it every which way and rotate it and so forth and it keeps getting stuck, or the ends of the bar end up restinf on the what looks like the tie bar, 4 inches above the sway bar endlink where the bar connects. i will keep trying..

you've got it in backwards i believe. buddy and I put the TRD in backwards initially and it just sat on a tire-rod when the car was lowered off the jack. switch it 180 degrees

Front bar is a porblem though

Yeah i did the rear last night with no problem. I have tried to slide the front in 1000 different ways and it either wont slide all the way through or the tips end up resting onthe tie rods, too high up from where it shouild be.

thanks guys for the help.

Guest: I think he is talking about the front bar not the RSB.

Are you working with the front bar? If so, it will only go in one-way. It's like a puzzle, one that took me high side of 3 hours to work out. A really big pain to install, by far the hardest DIY I have done. Good luck! :) It can be done :D.

I thought this thread was about the front sway bar? But do u know if the front sway bar should be installed with the Whiteline logo facing up?

I think it is. :)

On the bar what I did was elevated the rotors to set them level, as if the car was on the ground. This made everything a bit easier. I am not sure which way the logo goes, and from what I have read on other boards Whiteline is not real religious about which way the sticker faces.

There are alot of little wire bits and hoses to get hung up on, sometimes reaching up, and in, to push them out of the way helps.
