I would like to know where you got your specific info on the short ram temp. I do not know how the flow of the air goes under the hood...but geez it most be windy under there...so I think the "hot" air is not that hot. Yeah sure the best would be a CP-e with CAI...I'm working on it. But to come back to the subject...I would like to know the difference of temp between an CAI and the short ram at the intake sensor.

I will try answering this question myself in the next weeks...

onefiend wrote:intake & exhaust will net you maybe 5-8hp. I would get the injen w/ cold air extention. I would rather have my engine sucking in cold air rather than hot air from the engine bay, heat soak is a biatch

$500 for a few hp isn't worth it.

I use to have a short ram injen on my gen1. If you research a few other forums as well as SG on the topic "short ram vs. CAI" you will see that the majority agree that with a short ram you suck in hot air. The only time I think it would not matter is if you are driving on the fwy and taking a long trip, but if you are in stop & go traffic or doing any type of city driving, you are definitely sucking in hot air.

I agree with the traffic driving will bring hot air...but for the normal driving...I know "people say" that the short ram get hotter air (air passing thru the radiator and from the engine headers)...hehe it is an evidence...I just wonder how many farenheit degrees split the CAI vs Short ram on normal driving.

cae you can make yourself..

its the real deal people.. these are preset maps and modify your fuel if you really think that you can get 20whp out of a cae and safc please go get it.. it will cost you over 500 (injen intake 200, safc 250 if your lucky & dyno tune round 100-200) thats over 700 bucks for you if your lucky...

on the other hand a trd exhaust is netting 10hp however that is flywheel not at the wheels.. more like 5... to the wheels.

your choice but cp-e stands beside their product.. however they do not pass carb for you ca people

ill reiterate its truely up to you.. if you wanna go the legal and quick way and your not trying to do too much to your car, injen would be the way to go.. its simple and bolt on in 15 minutes...

cp-e is more involved however i feel that the tuning possibilites are endless with it.. its on my shitlist when the altima warranty is up.. 20+whp is a very nice number..

thanx for the advice i really am clueless though. i most likely will not be supercharging this so i would not buy the tuneable cp-e. therefore the tuning posibilities ARE endless for me. lol. but still the non tuneable is mapped for stock solaras so we shall see.
thanx to all.

No kidding. Stop posting new threads and start using the search button. A good way to fit into the community is to not make yourself into a PITA within the first month. Do a little searching and a little reading.

You should get in contact with RJ@UPFD his company is the one that makes the extension..i contacted him awhile back about it and he said that they can make another batch they just need to do it as a group buy to keep the cost down..just drop him a PM and im sure if you could get maybe 10 people or so that want the extension they would make a batch for you guys..i dont think he's been on here in awhile but ask anybody here thats been around awhile and theyll tell you RJ is a stand-up guy
