New head Unit question

New head Unit question

Postby Solara916 » Sat Sep 02, 2006 1:31 pm

Ok, I purchased an Alpine CDE-9852. Mainly got it because of the direct iPod hook up, but why does it sound so...blah? I have 2 10's with a small 400w amp that bumped more with the stock head unit than with the new one. I'm bummed.

Does anyone have the same head unit? Is there something I am missing?

Please help.

Naw, I didn't have the balls to install myself. The place I bought it from installed it.

Now that you got a new headunit, you have to configure your settings. Try messing with the functions and settings. Hope that helps.

The stock HU "bumps" more because it has automatic bass boost (loudness) built in. The Stock HU over-emphasises (SP) bass. Try adjusting your new HU, make sure it's SUB out is ON (Alpine sub outs can be turned off) and try turning up the gain on your sub amp. Likely your sub amps gain is way down to compensate for the stock HU's strong loudness.
