if your going to get an intake, stick with a name brand
(or better yet, wait for a CAI!)

You get what you pay for. First off short ram air intakes aren't worth it, even the name brand ones. If you insist on getting one for looks then get the injen.

Will it actually prodcue HP gains and be better for your engine though? Would it sound better? I'm interested as well, I understand most of yous are more biased in favor of Injen or other brand names, but how bad could the differnce be?

You will lose low end hp and tq but may gain a little top end. It would definately sound louder, and you may like it, but a lot of people have complained it gets annoying after a while. Your engine will most likely run rich as a result of the intake. The difference could be that the cheap intakes have their filter elements break up and get sucked into your engine, blowing it up. Stick with the name brands

If you search you should see a whole discussion about the adv and disadv of the short ram air intake

Yea I remember a whole discussion about AEM making a CAI for our cars a couple of months ago, I remember someone said that they should make them by the middle or end of March, but as I see that was not true. Does anyone know what happened to the plans to produce an AEM CAI for our car. Is it still going to get produced?

It's still either R&D'ing or the whole project was ditched. It would be best to get the real news straight from the source itself. Not 2nd or 3rd party sources.

I just got off the phone with AEM and they informed me that they are currently not planning on producing a cold air intake for Solaras. Anybody know whatever happened to the cattman cold air intake that was also supposed to be produced a while back.

The cattman CAI is coming. They are using IcrazychrisI's car to do the testing. Its still in R & D and should be here pretty soon.

i'm a kind of a newbie to intakes in general. should i assume that injen is good or are there better ones? and also i like the fact that the car is quiet and everyone mentions the changes in engine sound. does this mean it will get significantly louder or just different in tone?
