I have been trying to sell my 19 inch rims and someone wants to trade me for a set of 20s that wont fit their car. Has anyone put 20 inch rims on their Gen 1 solara? They are 20x8.5 Would this work with 30 series tires?

Its just a questions. I dont need to hear how ghetto it is.

Gen 2 can handle tire like 225/35R20...since Gen 1 tire are about 5% smaller...I think you are right.

Try it yourself...put the stock size on the first line...and you can enter up to 4 alternative size.

Thanks for the calculator. Thats a big help. So 225/35/20 would increase the overall diameter 0.52 inches. A 225/30/20 would actually decrease the overal diameter 0.37 inches. I would prefer to stay with the 35 series, but I know the 30 will fit. There not much room between the tire and spring with my 19s. Anyone 100% sure it will fit. I would just check, but I dont have the 20s in hand.

Thanks all

did you compared your 19's tires with your 20's tires ??
also to increse or decrease tire size keeping the same sidewall ratio...play with the width 225 --> 235 on 30 sidewall ratio, you would win/lose little...maybe just enough to get the same overall diamter tire size equal to your 19's

That calculator will not let me adjust the change from 7.5 wide to 8.5 wide. Surely 225 wide tires on 19 inch rims will sit lower than 225 wide tires on 8.5 in wide 20 inch rims

Here's a pic from some member here with 225/35/20, but I don't know the rim width. Man, everytime I see it, it reminds me of a 4x4 :-? I hope you lower yours....

Yea they will fit but make sure u have a drop or a lip kit because it wont look too good without one or the other. The tire size would be 225/30/20 or 235/30/20. Dont get no rim wider than 8.0 inches. It wont look good.
