General Question about the TRD kit

Postby Solorange » Sun Jul 22, 2007 5:30 pm

Do you guys know if the TRD kit hangs off the body of the car lower to the ground than the stock mud guards? Or is it higher or the same height?

it's just a tad lower I believe.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

Imo I think the kit is a tad bit higher than the mudguards, I used to scrape the front mudguards a lot and now that I have the kit on it hardly doesn't even with the fact that I have c/o's too

I believe it's lower as well. I just walked out and measured. I have 6 inches of clearance at the lowest point.

Who is lowered with the kit installed? I look at my mudguards and they look to be about 5 inches off the ground at most. Is it a bad idea to have a lowered solara with a kit on, am I going to regret having teins now? Thanks and sorry to thread jack.

I just measured my front mud guards and they are 3.5in from the ground. SolaraGuy22 what exact point did you measure from (lowest point on side skirts?) Can you do me a favor? Measure the lowest point on the front part of the side skirt and the lowest point up on the front bumper. Also what suspension setup and wheel tire combo do you have? (hopefully tein/tokico with 225/40/18.)

This is my situation since I'm sure your all wondering now. I just moved to an apartment and they have speed bumps in the parking lot I can't avoid. Well I was able to clear the speed bumps no problem when I first moved in. Then go figure they repave the whole lot two weeks after I move in also redoing the speed bumps. At least they gave me garage for free! Now the speed bumps are shorter in width but taller than before. So now my front mudguards scrap on them every time. Ive literally stop my front tires on the speed bump then drive over them as slow as possible and I still scrap. Ive tried to go at it at every angle and still cant avoid it. So pretty much if the TRD kit comes down lower or is the same level as the mud guards that equals no kit once again.

It was raining but I ran out and took a quick pic. I'd say the lowest point is 5 1/2 inches. I have 16" stockies with no suspension upgrade at all.

Hope that helps. Let me know if not and I'll get better shots in the day tomorrow before I drop it off to the mechanic.

Well just guessing with my drop im already 1.5" to 2" lower and then the total wheel diameter of my 18s is about .5 smaller in diameter. So I'm going to give me the benefit of the doubt and say my drop is 1.5 meaning my car is 2" lower. That puts the kit at the same level as the mud guards. Not good. Can anybody else measure the lowest point of their kit that has a closer setup to my car so I can get a more definite measurement verses calculations.

Thanks

If the speedbumps are scraping your mudguards, find out of your neighbors are having issues...if so, then it's not your drop, it's the bumps. If not, then it's your drop. Maybe go back to stock

Since your name is TMMK Toy im assuming you live in Georgetown and work for Toyota? If so shame on you for now helping me get a job lol. J/k.
I dont live in Cincy anymore. I graduated and took a job in Columbus so now Im a little farther away. Im sure we could still arrange a meet. Tacti has been trying to get me to form something for a while now. I just dont have time. My weekends should free up at the end of Aug. so we should get a a local meet going.
