Roll or Cut Fenders?

LOL. just becareful though, you lose the length of your studs when you add spacers. That's why i'd rather live with it the way it is.

I haven't but the added stress on your studs isn't something to be experimenting with unless you extend them.

i've been calling all the auto body/customization/collision repair places around austin and i'm getting quotes of anywhere between $150 to $900 to roll my fenders. From what I've seen, you guys have paid way less to get it done. What they're telling me is that the paint along the outside of the fender might crack from the strain of rolling the metal, which could lead to really high repainting costs. Have any of you guys had this problem? Also, does anybody know any places in Austin or national chain type places that i might try?

Thanks
Brian

Any of you guys who got 'em rolled know how much they rolled them, what tire/wheel sizes are yall running, and are ya'll lowered?

I have a guy who sounds pretty knowledgable who says he can roll them in about 3/8 of an inch for $140. I'm just trying to figure out if that will be enough for my 225/40 tires now, and in the future when I can do suspension mods.

is this a good deal?

Postby TXSolaraSLE » Tue Jul 01, 2003 11:45 am

After goin to a half dozen places to get estimates, everybody says that it will damage the fender and I'll probly have to repaint if they try to roll ( = mucho dinero)

I have a guy who says he can cut them, re-tack weld the 2 metal sheets back together, and then seal the exposed metal to prevent rust, etc. for 200.

I also have a guy who says he'll roll them by cutting the inner lip all the way around, bang out the body work caused by the damage, then repaint all for 300.

I'm leaning towards the 200 for the cut, unless yall houston guys know of a place I can get rolled/shaved for cheaper. What do you guys think?

Roll it dude, cuttin is not a way to go and it's expensive.

I got my fender rolled and it went fine.
The thing is, not so many body shop / place that can roll the fender.
Gosh, they dont even know what 'rolling the fender' means.

The shop usually use the baseball bat or hammer to bend it which probably damage the paint.

Try to find the shop that has the appropriate tool, like this:
