Where can I put my GPS?

Where can I put my GPS?

Postby DrLove » Thu Nov 15, 2007 6:29 pm

Hi guys,

For chrismas Im gonna get a GPS, my father bought me the LG LN735.

I wanted the Garmin NUVI250 but it was more expensive, so I said him to go with that model if he wants to buy me this gift. So he did.

Im thinking about put the GPS under the HVAC in a custom rack that I will make with wood or fiberglass ..and maybe paint it or put some leather on it.. But I guess that the speaker of the GPS is behind so Im gonna not hear the voice...Im right?

the second choice is to put it where the ugly gren clock is.... I would make a custom little rack behind and it would fit there...be more like OEM...

third choice, put the rack on the windshield like everybody..

what you think guys?

I did a little ugly photoshop to illustrate it..

3 choices:
- under the HVAC
- where the clock is right now
- factory LG rack on the windshield

I would like that our car had a 1 DIN like theses cars where the clock is.. someody built one yet for the Lara?

I would put the GPS were the "carputer" is..and put my Nakamichi on the top.

Thanks for your help!!

Sorry cannot help on this one but I can say you have a nice audio/video setup. By the way, where are you from...in the whole "La belle province" ? Like you probably notice I'm more French than English, aren't you ?

Extend your wires for you HAVC, and put it in your armrest. Then u have plenty of room to play around.

I'm from Trois-Rivieres! French of course, my english is so bad!
Working at a NMC for a cable distributor.

Your Solara is very nice Sebas007. I really like it, wish to earn more $$ to get one like yours

My 99 Lara is a great used car, I love it, but I wanted a brand new car, but the insurance were so high ($2000/year), Im gonna wait few more years before to get a new car.

The armrest can be a solution..but it would not be useful I guess..maybe lower it to the cig lighter? Must be a job to cut hole and put bondo,etc.. I've never use bondo and dont ant to mess..

Others ideas?

Thanks for the good comments about my audio-video, I really love this unit, it sound wonderful with some great "Eagles", lotssss of power with rock and hip-hop music. For the low price I bought it, I can't find a better unit. It more unique because Nakamichi don't sale in Canada for few years now.

The radio unit is a "Nakamichi IN-DV7" and the GPS is a "LG LN735".
Im gonna get the GPS is gift at chrismas, already know my gift

About the harmnest, I tought about it, but I live in Canada, here it's always freezing or hot/moist in summer..I need to play with the HVAC all the time, more because I dont have the automatic HVAC.

Somebody here try to put a LCD, GPS, DVD player where the clock is? :drinking:

I saw a nice console made for the mazda 3, just pop it on the dash and u get a nice LCD rack who looks OEM. Wish to have this mod for the lara.

I still get 40 days to find out.. :P

I just have mine on the windshield since I let my friends borrow it. no need to make it permanently attached. if it were permanent, then it'd be a different story.

Hi guys!

Yesterday I received my GPS! I put it in the windshield but it' way too far to an easy acces. I would like to put it near the radio, I saw on ebay a braket made for our car (for a cell phone), but it's a bit expensive..what you think?
