I recently purchased cross drilled and slotted rotors from ebay. and today me and my friend installed them, when I took my car out for a drive the car was stopping smoothly and everything but when I came back I noticed that there were tiny pieces of my brake pad all over my rims, and there were dark circles on the rotor, which seemed like they came from the brake pad. Basically what is seems like is that the slots on the rotors are shredding my brake pad. I was wondering whether I needed to sand down or somehow smooth out the rotor before I put it on, or is that normal, and the brake just has to adjust to the rotor. Has this happened to anyone that has purchased the brembo cross drilled rotors ? Sorry about the long post. :evil:

What pads are you using?

That's exactly what the slots are for.

I just used the regular brake pads that were on my car before I changed my rotors, they are not the TRD ones or the greenstuff ones, just some no name brake pads. Even if the slots are supposed to shred the brake pad, I don't think that there should be dark circles that don't wash off on my rotors from the brake pads.

I would upgrade my pads if I were you...

It's the braking system we are talking about here.

what is recommended when you pop on new rotors, is that they should acquire new brake pads as well. it is said to do so, so that both are able to accomodate each other while breaking in.

old pads have the grooves of the old rotors, thus having pieces breaking off with/from the new surface of the rotors.

TRDMole177 is right, its pointless to change rotors without changing pads.
