Yeah there is but I was curious how they work and how much more horsepower it gives you? And would this void any extended or existing warranties?

I know you have to have the dealer install it to maintain the car's warranty. I believe the dealer won't install it unless you buy it from them. Although I've seen some dealers do service that others wouldn't touch. -JoeB

ebay

Get one from Ebay. I did. Don't pay more than $2000 for it. Also any Toyota Dealerships will install it for you. For Camrys/Solaras the cost if approximately $450. And no, don't get a used one unless warranties don't mean anything to you. My car pulls a little harder now, but it wasn't really worth the money. If you plan on making other modifications, and working on internals, then I'd say go for it. That way you can raise the boost and support it. It only comes with 4psi, which is practically nothing. The supercharger in my opinion is not worth the money!

This topic has been discussed so much on this forum. The S/C is my favorite mod and was worth every penny and I'm only running 4 psi. I think most will agree that the most efficient way to get good power out of the 1mz-fe is the S/C with 5.5 psi, and full exhaust. Expect to pay $3500-$4000 for those engine mods alone.

oh yes. i'm sure this topic hasn't been discussed before....

anyway, the M/T benefit from the S/C rather than the A/T's. i've got an A/T but i never really felt the boost till i put on the JIC 505SUS exhaust.

when i bought it at first, i thought the S/C wasn't worth the money either, but if you plan on doing other mods along with it, you'll see the gains.

i'm also going to put a smaller pulley on it soon ...hopefully.

What other mods should be done besides an exhaust and new pulleys for a supercharger? I dont have the money for JPP headers, so thats out.

what do you mean, "what SHOULD" be done? whatever you want to be done to it...iono!?! :-?

maybe i missed it. do you have M/T or A/T? if you have a M/T then you could just bolt it on and be satisfied with the extra boost. me personally, having a A/T, i've done other mods to totally be satisfied with the SC as it complements the other upgrades i put on.

one thing that's crucial: upgrade your spark plugs and spark plug wires when you do put in the SC.

krooked is right about the plugs...

I bought and installed new OEM plugs before I got the supercharger. Now that the supercharger is on, I can't reach the rear bank of plugs. I'm kicking myself for not putting on Denso Iridium IK22's to start with.

Is it true that used superchargers void the warranty of the car?

nope. here's my understanding of it:

S/C's new or used, IF installed by yourself, your friend, mother, father, ANYONE else other than a toyota dealership technician...will VOID THE WARRANTY.

any S/C installed by the dealership will obviously not void the warranty.
