URD O2 Simulator Installation

Postby anttarz » Wed Dec 30, 2009 9:00 am

Are there installation instructions for rear 02 simulators anywhere online. Im ordering one this week. It appears to be an easy install.

Does it get installed under the driver seat where the O2 plugs in?

I pretty sure the URD Rear O2 Simulator, 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 [O2 Sim Type A] is the correct O2 simulator for the 1MZ-FE V6 Solara.

Or does anyone have a picture of theirs installed?

when you order, tell them what its for, and ask for a wire diagram of your model, they will send one, and it goes behind the glove box................ :drinking:

^^i'll be spliced into the ECU behind the glove box just like he said. check the "tutorials" section, there's a write up in there as to what wires to splice into, etc.

sure... if you can actually unscrew the :bad-words: sensor from the pipe... mine feels just about welded in there. i was starting to round it off even using a 6-point 1/2" drive o2 sensor socket.

if i ever sell my greddy evo ii, someone will be getting an oxygen sensor with it.

wouldnt it still be cheaper to have a muffler shop remove the sensor for you and replace with an anti fouler?

only if someone can remove the o2 sensor without damaging it. right now that seems impossible. and not to sound conceited, but if i can't remove it, a muffler shop won't be able to either - I'm an ASE certified mechanic myself.

besides - i only spent about $15 on parts for my o2 simulator. :D

btw kenny - from your post above, it almost sounds like you think that you need to remove the o2 sensor completely, and just install an antifouler by itself.

unfortunately, you need to be able to reinstall the o2 sensor INTO the antifouler, which is my problem. i had a pack of the antifoulers ready to go, but couldn't remove the sensor.

i think it was you (tho i could be wrong) that had told me about the antifouler mod in the first place, so you probably know that already, but just in case, i'm just clarifying... for you and anyone else who might read this thread.

I hate to bump an old thread, but can anyone confirm that the 5vz simulator is the correct one since it's been redesigned?

digging thru old subscriptions...

yes, with liberal amounts of PB blaster, profanity, and patience, the o2 sensor came out with no damage before the greddy was shipped to hawaii.

i still have my homemade o2 sensor simulator in place since the JPP headers/y-pipe have no cat.

and if anyone else searches this thread, the plans i used for the o2 simulator were from the mkiv supra forums. may take a little searching to find the plans, but its easy. uses a 555 timer, a few resistors, 1 capacitor and 2 leds. i put it together on a breadboard and drove around for a month with no glovebox and a breadboard taped to my floormat with wires running up into the dash... just to make sure it worked before i soldered it together. still working fine years later with no engine light issues.

THIS!!!!!

get a 2 pack spark plug anti-fouler kit from an autoparts store. take one of them and drill a 1/2 inch hole through it. this one goes on the O2 sensor. then screw the other one and screw into exhaust pipe.
