Replace '06 solara stock subwoofer

Postby gmendonc » Thu Jul 01, 2010 8:49 am

Has anyone replaced the existing stock subwoofer in the solara convertible? I had the JBL system with navigation in my 2006 solara but replaced the head unit with the Dual xhd7714 and pac tato interface. I need more punch and the way the existing subwoofer is setup is sorely lacking in low end punch so I'd like to replace it. Eventually I will probably replace the JBL amp with an after market unit and replace all the stock jbl speakers but for now I'd like to spend minimal amount of cash. So I'd like to use the built in amp from the Dual HU which is rated at 17 watts RMS x 4, is that going to be enough?

I am going to do this. Today i am going to measure the existing unit to find out how deep the enclosure goes so I can make sure that I order the right unit.
