Lighter flywheel, what will that get me?

About to get a new clutch and I've heard things about ligher flywheels. As far as I know, a lighter flywheel means the engine will have to overcome less inertia in the drivetrain, so it should be able to spin up faster, resulting in more power. Is that they difference? What other side effects does a lighter flywheel have? Will it be beneficial in daily driving? Will it make the car idle rougher? Thanks.

Your understanding is correct, with one exception. It doesn't give you more power, it just provides greater efficiency because less power is lost through the drivetrain. The effect is the same, though. If it gets too light, then it can cause a rougher idle, and you'll have to rev a lot higher to engage smoothly. I have a Fidanza flywheel, and it does seem to rev a little quicker, although it's not a huge difference over stock. If you're going to have the clutch upgraded, it's a nice additional mod, but I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone upgrade.
