You might as well weld a soda can as a replacement instead. This is a golden fact. You pay for what you get. :drinking:

seriously if your gonna get a universal muffler at least get a 5zigen, hks, injen, or from a company that makes good quality mufflers, too many junk imitattions out there....case in point that muffler was a 5zigen fireball knockoff

A friend of mine bought one of those off ebay, not sure if it's the same brand or not. Any time he floors it there is this awful smell. Perfect example of what you get from buying worthless stuff like that ;)

There are alot of full cat-back bolt up systems for our cars. Believe me, they're worth saving up for. You can find the Apexi WS system for less than 400 after shipping and that will show you alot more in the gain category than just welding on a muffler. If you where going to get a custom run done from the cat with larger piping it might help you out a little, but it will sound really cheap without the resonator.

As was said before there are some good quality mufflers out there that will have a decent sound, but they are usually about twice (or more) the cost of this one. Once you got all you piping ran you would be looking at close to the cost of the cat-back again.

I honestly, when I knew much less than today, considered doing my exhaust with a cheaper aftermarket muffler, but I am glad I saved for my cat-back setup. It sounds nice and has a noticeable affect on the feel of the car. Good luck on your choice man!

EDIT: I forgot to mention with the bolt-up system you can have the satisfaction of doing it yourself, so there is no labor cost other than your time :).

what about magnaflow exhausts? Those are universal, would they be ricey and useless for our platform? and would it sound really cheap if the resonator was taken out?

I think someone over on teamsc3.com has done a Magnaflow setup. I don't know if they come here also, so jumping over there and doing a quick search might be useful :).

Now for my .02, Magnaflow belongs on domestics :). Ok, had to get that in. It's a quality muffler from what I have been told, so I don't think it would sound rice.

Assuming you’re talking about their universal mufflers, I think that other restriction rules would be in effect. I want to say that it’s the general thinking around here that just changing a muffler, won’t do too much, other than make you louder, because of the little pipes from the catalytic converter to the muffler. Which at this point I’ll refer you to my last post in the thread :P.

I have a pair of the Bomz straight cut mufflers and they don't sound too bad. I took the baffles out because the opening was just way too small. The way mine are mounted took a lot of work but it's worth it.

i noticed that when you have the v6 engine, when you modify the exhuast and take out the resonators it usually makes the exhuast sound deeper..i did that on my old camry V6 and it was deep and loud and the camry v6 has changed little for the past two generations.....
