HELP!!! Hiccup/jerking at low RPMs

Postby SolaraMan7890 » Thu Jul 21, 2011 4:21 pm

Hey guys, I need some help.

I have a 2000 A/T Solara V6 with 141,000+ miles.

I was driving today and the CEL went on. I didn't think much of it at first but then I started noticing when I am at a red light and my car is stopped, if I let go of the break (and let the car roll) it "hiccups" or similar to a feeling of a M/T beginning to stall, the CEL also momentarily blinks (turns off and quickly turns back on) simultaneously with the "jerk" or "hiccup" of the car.

I only notice this happening when I am rolling off the break. To prevent it from happening I actually had to keep switching to neutral and keeping the RPMs at about 2000.

Don't have time to run the code, will do it tomorrow.

Any ideas to what this might be?

Guessing IAC valve or MAF sensor needs cleaning.

But the code will tell the story.

Is that expensive?

Can it be my transmission?

1) No.

2) Could be anything really. There COULD be a gremlin living in the engine bay playing tricks on you for all I know. But I'm pretty sure these trannys are solid. When my car was stuttering, I thought it was the tranny too, but it turned out the MAF was dirty. $10 can of MAF cleaner later the car was fine.

Ok so the guy told me P1765 and P0773.

Also two new symptons happened.
1. When I went out I didn't wait for my car to heat up from overnight and then I floored it to see if anything would happen, and the same hiccup happened but at a higher speed and RPMs.
2. Then when I stopped and the car wasn't moving, it was running with A/C on, engine on, in Park after about 2 min the engine shut off and all the lights went on (battery light etc.).

What the helllll don't tell me my car is dying on me!

P1765 - defective shift solenoid valve SLN, an open or short in the shift solenoid valve SLN circuit or PCM malfunction
P0773 - defective shift solenoid E, open in wiring harness or short circuit.

I'm gonna guess its the solenoid..and please dont ever ever ever floor it with a cold engine

I was only flooring it to see if the problem would occur or not.

Thank you for the descriptions. Is it transmission or engine? I don't really know what the codes mean. And is it an expensive fix? New tranny? :(

Doing that on a cold engine can cause damage.

Those are transmission codes.

Im not sure how much the labor would be. Take it to a reputable mechanic or transmission shop to be sure thats the problem

So would I have to buy all three of those parts? or two since I have two codes?

This literally was nothing. Paid 175 for tranny diagnostic and 30 for tranny fluid.
